Johannes Wessmark is a Swedish photo realist painter whose paintings convey a feeling of calm and relaxation. Living in the peaceful countryside of Sweden, Wessmark finds inspiration in the beauty of nature. Water is a recurring theme in his compositions, referencing pleasant childhood memories of summers spent on an island. Often portraying peacefully floating figures, his paintings are as contemplative as they are beautifully executed.
Wessmark is an autodidact whose precise attention to detail has won him accolades through out Europe and the United States. Considered one of the foremost European photo-realist painters, he is included in many private and public collections, such as the Count Ibex Collection, the City of Stockholm, Sweden and the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Spain.
